ProtoOKN - A national data fabric

Onai is providing the underlying data fabric for the multi-agency ProtoOKN initiative. Drawing on public government datasets, it aims to enable data-driven solutions for a broad set of societal and economic challenges and to strengthen US competitiveness.

Guardian - Distributed public health intelligence

Onai powers Guardian, a system designed to enable collaboration across local and state public health agencies. It allows investigators to work more efficiently with AI assistance, epidemiologists to analyse trends across jurisdictions, and agencies to collaborate without centralising sensitive data. This enables a new model of public health: one that is faster, more intelligent, and privacy-preserving.

ASPIRE - Drug discovery

Onai worked with NCATS to enable analysis across proprietary drug discovery datasets and the scheduling of distributed laboratory experiments.

Onai has also worked with a range of other partners, including DARPA, NASA, NOAA, and the Army, on networks and AI, including work for low-resource languages. It also supports leading scientists working on distributed storage of datasets.

What These Projects Show

Across domains, a consistent pattern emerges:

• Data does not need to be centralised to be useful.
• AI can operate across distributed systems.
• Collaboration can happen without sacrificing privacy.
• Computation can be shared across participants.
• New forms of coordination and insight become possible.
